To Mauritius Without Passport

Reunion, a French island is located in the South West of Mauritius and both are often termed as sister islands due to their history and close proximity. To travel between both islands is less than an hour flight. Though being both volcanic islands, the two are distinct from each other. Mauritius is widely known for its shimmering white sandy beaches and unique panoramic landscapes.

The Republic of Mauritius has extended the scheme, “Mauritius without passport” for the French Nationals of Reunion island. Till 30 June 2024, only citizens of Reunion Island will be able to travel  to Mauritius for holiday purposes with their identity cards only. 

The following requirements are to be followed:

  • Only applicable for French Nationals residing in Reunion Island and traveling to Mauritius for holidaying.
  • The minimum stay in Mauritius should be 2 nights.
  • The usual immigration conditions should be followed like airline tickets and confirmed accommodation arrangements.
  • Upon arrival to Mauritius, a valid French identity card should be presented to the immigration officers so as to be issued “an entry authorisation”.
